Getting started

Your mentor works inside your own Claude, so the setup is short: ask for a place, connect Tempered to Claude once, and send the first message. Here is each step, in order.

A Claude account
Your mentor works inside it. Between sessions you practice on your own work and bring it back.
An invitation
Programs are by invitation. You ask on the program’s page.
About a minute
To connect Tempered to Claude, once. After that you just talk to your mentor.
  1. Ask for a place

Open the program you want and choose Request access. Programs on Tempered are by invitation: ask, and we’ll email you when your place is ready.

  2. Accept your invitation

New to Tempered? The link in your invitation creates your account. Already have one? Sign in, and the program is waiting under Your programs.

  3. Connect Tempered to Claude

On the program’s page, choose Start in Claude. It gives you the address to paste and walks you through it: in Claude, open Customize → Connectors, add a custom connector named Tempered, then choose Connect and sign in with your Tempered account.

You do this once. If you use Claude through work and custom connectors are turned off, ask your workspace owner to add Tempered.

    Add custom connector

    Tempered
    Remote MCP server URL

    TemperedConnect

What Claude asks for. Start in Claude gives you the address to copy.
  4. Send the first message

Claude opens with the message already typed. Send it, and your mentor begins with the intake: five short questions about your goals and your work, answered in your own words, then a few situations to see where you are starting from. Nothing in it is graded.

    Continue my Tempered module “pricing-your-work”.

MentorBefore we start, five short questions, answered in your own words. First: what would getting good at this change for you?

Sample. The first message is typed for you; the intake starts from your reply.
  5. Work the steps

Your mentor coaches you through the program a step at a time. When you’ve got one, a separate grader reads your work and passes it, or tells you what is still missing.

Between sessions, practice on your own work, then come back and tell your mentor how it went, or tell Claude you want to continue. Your progress page on Tempered keeps your record: where you started, each step you’ve passed, its score and the grader’s note.

    Your record

    • Week 1Started: names a price, then softens it
    • Week 2Step 01 passed 81
    • Week 4Step 02 passed 76Held the number through the pause.
Sample. Your progress page keeps this; your mentor reads it too.
